Laurie Parker has enjoyed writing rhyming narratives and other poetry since childhood. Another one of her long-time pastimes is cutting and pasting colored paper to create collages such as the ones used to illustrate her latest book, The Turtle Saver.
Laurie received her B.S. degree in Education in 1985 from Mississippi State University, where she also studied Engineering.
Her love of creating eventually led her to full-time work as a self-employed artist—crafting a unique line of jewelry, which she currently sells through galleries and shows throughout the Southeast.
Laurie is also the author of five other books: the enchanting story of a lost dog named Skippy, whose master searches for him Everywhere in Mississippi; the delightful croaking adventures of a funny family of frogs who are hopping All Over Alabama; and her previous editions of the Alphabet Series: Mississippi Alphabet, Louisiana Alphabet, and Texas Alphabet.
Laurie resides in her hometown of Starkville, Mississippi.
